The Model United Nations program at Tustin High School began as a club with five members and has grown over its twenty years to a full fledged four-year program embedded in the Social Science curriculum. The program currently has four advisors and over two hundred actively involved students. THSMUN also organizes an annual conference early in November, attracting over a thousand students from Southern California and the world. The advisors, with the support of the school, parents, and the district, have developed an integrated, four-year experience aimed at deepening the knowledge and competitive skills in each MUN student.
This interactive and interdisciplinary program places students in the role of official United Nations delegates, who debate the current social, political, and economic issues and pass resolutions that solve the situations. The program develops communication, critical thinking, negotiation, writing, and conflict resolution skills with a focus on research and competition. Each delegate in the program is required to participate in two conferences each semester and students who show effort and maturity are invited to travel to regional or international conferences.
The THSMUN program has been the recipient of several California and out-of-state and International Best Delegation Awards, the highest honor a school can receive. As students become global citizens, they gain a new perspective and make a difference in the world. We welcome any Tustin High Student to our MUN family and invite them to share the proud heritage of being an MUNer.
